my sister will be married in less than a week and i am throwing her party today at my mom’s. i have put together a hawaiian menu.
appetizers: lomi-lomi salmon & mini musubis.
entrees: kalua pig & huli huli chicken
sides: rice, macaroni salad
desserts: fruit salad, banana-pineapple upside down cake
i still have to make ihaw the chicken but everything’s ready to go although i think the salmon needs a bit more acid in it.. and maybe more tabasco. i was planning on giving out thank you soaps but i didn’t have time to make them. blah.
so here’s the first post for the month of april. It’s a lazy Sunday for me. I did a batch of guest soaps and I am happy with the results. I got an email to join a fundraiser boutique for the 23rd and we (J & I) are excited about it because a) I get to sell my soaps and stuff, and b)it’s to help the senior community.
Last night, J & I went to Hollywood to play backup(J is lead guitar, I am rhythm) for my friend bel. J did a whole set and I did the end half of it. We did alright and we’re glad to be done with it. Too bad I have no photographic evidence that that day existed. J has some pictures because I was on double duty. Photographer and “musician”.
- I’m Yours – Jason Mraz (dont really care for the song)
- Emotianally (i think) – Belle
- I don’t Know – Belle
- Just Like Heaven – The Cure
I played the bolded songs.
i haven’t been blogging for a bit because J is here from Canada and we don’t know if he’s staying or going because his wallet’s slowly going on empty. i’m planning on getting a part time job for extra income. i kinda miss working actually so this’d be good.
i had an order for a gift basket for my soap gig. will post a picture soon. 🙂 i liked how it turned out looking. i just need to buy a cello bag to wrap it all up.
each “cupcake” is around 2 oz. each soap will look slightly different from each other because they are handmade.
if interested, send me an email and i will send you an invoice! 🙂 thanks!
both layers made with goat’s milk soap.
white (bottom) layer: french vanilla (creamer) and oatmeal were added to soap. vanilla fragrance was also added. a couple coffee beans are to be found on this layer too!!
brown (top) layer: scented and coloured with ground choco-almond coffee.
if you like sigur ros, you’d recognize the little sleepwalking boy. 🙂
in other news, my goat’s milk soap has arrived 🙂
first handcrafted notebook. it is actually not finished yet because i am planning on passing it on to my friend lowell who’d then spice up the cover with art. He painted the artwork behind me. 🙂 Will post the finished-finished product when it’s done. 🙂
im branding my soaps: BARETA (as in bar, for bars of soap?)
(better picture to be posted later)
im calling this batch “PAVY”
PAVY is made with:
GLYCERINE SOAP, CUCUMBER=MELON + PLUMERIA OIL for scent, ROSEMARY HERB for decorative purpose (no herbs in soap, only on top).
Benefits Of Handmade Soap
Evidence abounds of the healing properties of a handmade bar of soap. Those who suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, as well as people that have sensitive skin or are hypoallergenic often find immediate relief by switching to handmade soap. Compared to store bought soap, handmade soap is very mild. They are often made from vegetable-based oils, such as olive, coconut, and palm and do not contain the potentially harmful chemicals found in conventional bar soap. One of the biggest differences between commercial soap and handmade soap is glycerine. Glycerine is a clear liquid that absorbs water from the air and is a key factor in keeping skin soft and healthy. Glycerin soap is especially good for sensitive and delicate skin, and for children. Because it is a high quality by-product in the soap making process, many mass commercial soap manufacturers often extract the glycerine and sell it as a by-product to be used in higher priced products like lotions and skin creams.
